In the annual message on November, 5th the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has declared to Federal meeting necessity «to undertake practical steps on strengthening of a role of rouble as one of the international settlement currencies and, at last, to begin transition to calculations in roubles».

According to D.Medvedeva, transition to calculations in roubles is necessary first of all for gas and oil. «Unfortunately, we while have tightened it», — the Russian president has told.

«It is necessary to stimulate placing of new issue securities in roubles and it is desirable in the Russian market. The ultimate goal of these processes — to make rouble of one of regional currencies», — has noted D.Medvedev. The Russian leader considers, that similar actions will make also others quickly progressing countries.

On October, 6th in Minsk the prime minister of Russia Vladimir Putin also has supported wider use of the Russian rouble in mutual calculations, and also about an establishment of the Russian rouble as reserve currency for Belarus. Russia, according to V.Putin, is interested in the further deepening of currency integration with Belarus. Thus, he has underlined, Moscow is ready «to consider the problem on deepening of cooperation and on support of the Belarus financial system if it is required».

«In the conditions of the international currency crisis we should watch closely occurring events and in due time to react to them, — the Russian prime minister at a meeting with Belarus colleague Sergey Sidorskim has told. — At us great volume of cooperation, including in power. Not clearly, why we, realising projects, make till now calculations in US dollars. And meanwhile problems which the American economy faces, the American currency system, to us well-known».

V.Putin has added, that from the agenda the question of introduction of uniform currency does not act in film also: «We move in this direction easy with maintenance of necessary safety both Russian, and the Belarus interests».

In mutual settlements with Belarus Putin declared expediency of transition to the Russian roubles and earlier — at the international investment forum on September, 19th in Sochi. Then he has informed, that since 2009 company "Gazprom" plans to pass to the Russian currency in calculations with some counterparts. «Really, somehow is oddish sounds, that we sell gas, say, to Belarus for dollars», — the prime minister has told. He also has urged other Russian companies to pass to calculations in national currency.
